The RJ Reynolds Orchestra, Drama, and Band recently returned from a four night musical festival at sea. The combined Orchestra and Band Performed three tunes, and received a rating of Superior.

Visual arts students spent three days over Spring Break at the Penland School of Crafts, a prestigious art school that only accepts one high school group each year. Students learned felting and metal crafting, clogged, and experienced life at Penland.

The Sawtooth Art Honors Summer Program is held from June 21-July 16. Successful completion of this program will give students credit for Art 1 and will allow them to take more advanced art classes here at Reynolds. Call 723-7395 to learn more.

On February 28th at 3 PM, A Cappella groups from Elon, UNCW, and Reynolds High School sang to raise money and awareness for the Red Cross Haiti Survivors' Fund. The WS Journal covered the concert in this article.

Three RJR students qualified for All District Band and spent the weekend at Appalachian State University February 19-21 at an All District Band workshop and concert. Congratulations to Jeremey, Anita, and Ellis!

Nine-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion and original musical star of Riverdance, Eileen Ivers, spent the day with RJR students on March 10th. The musicians worked with Jazz Band, dance, and Orchestra students.

On February 5, 2009, the RJR Women's A Cappella Group "Syncopate" was on the morning news to advertise the A Cappella Jam for Hope. This concert will be at 7 PM at the RJR Auditorium on February 7th. Admission is a minimum donation of $5.
