Paisley IB Magnet School has been recognized as a Signature School by the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium, a collaborative group of school systems and higher-education institutions.
Paisley was selected for the award because of the increased achievement of its students, its inviting school environment, its effort to involve parents and its innovative practices. Paisley is the only Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme, a rigorous course of study based on international standards.
Paisley was nominated for the Signature School award by the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system. North Hills Traditional Academy, a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County elementary school, also was recognized by the consortium as a Signature School.
Staff members from Paisley received a plaque at a reception in Greensboro honoring the consortium’s Signature Schools. Earlier this year, Paisley was named a School of Distinction for 2003-04 under the state’s ABCs testing program.
The Piedmont Triad Education Consortium is a collaboration of 15 K-12 public school districts and 17 higher education institutions in central North Carolina. The group focuses its efforts toward initiating change and strengthening diversity for quality education and economic development.
Paisley is one of eight magnet schools in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system.
The school’s IB Middle Years Programme is open to students in sixth through 10th grades.
