Paisley Magnet School students celebrated cultures from around the world through food, dress and entertainment at its third annual International Festival on Nov. 18, 2003. Students presented research-based projects and provided entertainment exhibitions, ranging from karate demonstrations to Irish step dancing.
"International Night is a visual coming-to-life of Paisley's International Baccalaureate curriculum," said Marion Pittman-Couch, principal. "The expansive international community is quickly becoming the everyday reality of our students. Students understand why events that occur on the other side of the world impact life in Winston-Salem and the rest of us."
The PTA sold more than 700 tickets to the International Festival and raised more than $10,000. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards a new sound and lighting system for the auditorium.
