Phillip Harrison, a visiting artist who specializes in stone and forged metal, has been working with Janis Henderson’s seventh- and eighth-grade art students on a large sculpture that will be installed in the front of the school.
The students are currently learning techniques for stone carving and sand blasting.
Several business have contributed materials to the project, including North Carolina Granite Corporation; B.G. Hedley, who is a member of the Indiana Limestone Institute of America, Inc.; Structural Steel of the Carolinas; Tri-State Sculpture Guild Inc.; MiStion; Penumbra Design Studios; and Photo Abrasive.
Hill is a magnet school for the visual and performing arts.
