Wendy Martinez, an eighth-grader at Hill Middle School, has been selected to join the Winston-Salem Symphony’s Youth Philharmonic.
The Youth Philharmonic is a full orchestra that is open to student musicians in grades 4 through 12 who play orchestra instruments. It is one of two member orchestras of the Winston-Salem Youth Orchestras and students must audition for acceptance.
Martinez was selected as first chair viola for the Youth Philharmonic.
Hill is countywide magnet school for visual and performing arts, and one of 12 magnets in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system. Martinez’s teacher at Hill is Chris Hudnell.
