Hill Magnet School focuses on academic excellence by immersing students in a program enriched with performing arts and technology experiences. Hill merges a variety of proven instructional strategies to present the North Carolina Standard Course of Study within the framework of an arts-enriched curriculum designed to make the most of students' talents and interests. Three distinct conceptual "houses" compliment the program by allowing students to work with the same group of teachers from one year to the next, providing continuity in instruction and the opportunity to forge strong bonds with staff and students within their house.
Hill's arts and technology curriculum is supported by key partnerships with community leaders in dance, theater, and filmmaking. Instruction is enabled by state-of-the-art technology including high-end computers with DVD-RW for photo and video editing and production, MIDI keyboards for music composition, a quality dance studio, and a refurbished auditorium with theater lighting and sound.
Hill Magnet School's close proximity to the North Carolina School of the Arts, the city's downtown technology center, and Winston-Salem State University enables the school community to take advantage of neighboring resources in academics, arts, and technology.
