Hill Magnet School focuses on excellence in teaching and learning by immersing students in a program enriched by visual, performing, media and literary arts experiences. Hill merges a variety of proven instructional strategies to present the North Carolina Standard Course of Study within the framework of an arts-enriched curriculum designed to make the most of students' talents and interests. Three distinct conceptual "halls" become "schools-within-a-school," where students, parents and teachers can get to know one another over time and to cooperate in promoting student progress. The Classical Hall, Renaissance Hall and Expressionist Hall create a community enviroment within the school and promote ownership, teamwork, parent involvement and mutual respect.
Hill's arts curriculum is supported by key partnerships with community leaders in dance, theater, and filmmaking. Instruction is enabled by state-of-the-art technology including highend computers with DVD-RW for photo and video editing and production, MIDI keyboards for music composition, a quality dance studio, and a refurbished auditorium with theater lighting and sound.
